Proper preparation of the roof deck is essential to the long term
performance of any roofing system. Many metal roofs have existing
asphalt or water-base coatings which must be power-washed or scraped to
assure proper adhesion of the Tek Seal Rubber Coating. Furthermore,
areas subject to surface rust should be treated with Tek-Seal 600
(Rust Remover & Conditioner). This will protect the long term
integrity of the affected panels and insure proper adhesion. |
| 2.
Loose and defective bolts, screws, and fastener heads must be secured
with additional fasteners or lap screws dabbed with Tek-Seal Pronto
Patch. Finally, any open seams which remain must be reinforced with Tek-Seal
Brush Grade Seam Sealer and Tek-Seal Rh 53 Polyester Membrane
to insure a strong and durable water proofing seal. Openings in excess
of 1/8" should be sealed using Tek-Seal Trowel Grade Rubber Cement. |

3.
All seams must be coated with Tek-Seal Brush Grade Seam Sealer in
order to provide adequate waterproofing protection over areas subject to
thermal movement and shearing activity. Seam Sealer can be brushed or
spray applied, and should also be utilized over bolt heads, vents
stacks, and other areas in which movement may be anticipated. |
| 4.
Once all fasteners, seams and openings are properly sealed, the metal
deck is watertight. The roof should now be top-coated using Tek-Seal
Just Super or Tek-Seal Rubber Coating. Unlike water base
acrylic latex products, these formulas will not blister from high
humidity, or wash off from sudden rainfall. Similarly, aluminized
asphalts will "brown-out" when exposed to moisture in the
curing process. |

Tek-Seal Just Super White Rubber Coating can be applied by brush,
roller or airless spray equipment. A two-coat application process is
recommended to achieve proper coverage and the desired coating
thickness. Though white is generally preferred, customized pastel colors
are also available upon request. |
| 6.
The finished roof is a monolithic rubber membrane with exceptional
expansion & recovery characteristics, tensile strength, and UV
resistance. This assures that the building will remain water proof,
energy efficient, and attractive for many years
